Naper's Water World - Oceana

The planet called Oceana is much larger than the average terran planet and has a surface that is 90% water. The land masses that dot the surface are few and far between and are sparsely settled. Severe storms ravage the surface of the planet and any dwellings on the surface have to be built to withstand these frequent hurricane force storms. There are very few privately owned properties although some do exist.

There is no organized government on the surface of Oceana - the native species on the planet does not allow it.



The Native Sentient Lifeform on Oceana

The native indigenous lifeform found on Oceana are the Naiyadi - a sentient aquatic species that populate the vast oceans on the planet. They are able to survive on land if necessary but require frequent rehydration to survive for any length of time. The Naiyadi are a shy race and are non-aggressive in most situations.

While in their native underwater environment, the Naiyadi are reminiscent of the Terran legends of mermaids. They have long tails, fins and when they are spotted on the surface have lured the unwary with their enchanting song. Able to exist on land, the Naiyadi are able to transform their mer-tail into legs. Naiyadi tend to have colorful skin tones ranging from blues and greens to reds and golds and a variety of colors in between. Their hair tends to be a variation of their tail, fins and skin tones.

Naiyadi do not often travel from their homeworld but a few curious and adventuresome souls have done so when they are fortunate enough to find an off-worlder willing to transport them.
