~“Texas Marie Jones.” The voice was as cold as it was judging.
“You are guilty of dishonor. For shaming your family name.”
How could you get twenty people killed Texas? Don’t you know what this will do to you?
They gave her orders and she followed them… despite…
She had a hunch, a gut feeling, and she was wrong—the orders were wrong. No one would understand that, not when the people she had been fighting to save were caught in the middle of an ambush. One or two survivors could never make up for the amount of people lost. It was as if they knew her unit was coming and that they would be escorting civilians. Important civilians.
“For the death of Council member Adonis…” Twenty names, all read clear and as smooth as a bell. No grief from the one who read them until,” High Queen Iliana Fon.”
The whole room seemed to weep at the sound of that name.
“Considering the loss you suffered, the death of your Mother, and father, you will not be sentenced to death.”
There were calls of rage then. More of them were bitter than others. All were of same mind, she deserves to die.
“You are banished from this world and of those worlds who know you and your family’s name.”
That was fine, she could live with never returning home.
“When you do finally pass from this existence may the gods have mercy on your soul.” ~
“Comeo stasis deactivated.”
Both eyes opened, her head lifted, and she looked towards the status of her ship. There was no time for her to dwell over the past or bear it ill will when there was work to be done. Even after days of sleep, she still felt as if her body was drained. It lacked food, she knew that, but there was no need for her to worry over it. Soon she would be at her prime, just needed a bit of R & R time.
Her fingers switched over keys, pressed buttons, and checked sensors. Engines were clear, cargo was still safe and sound. A new shipment of food being delivered to one of the odd restaurants on the station. It was freeze dried, but with the right tools it would become an ornate meal that would satisfy most.. odd beings. She didn’t see how any soul could eat worms or even insects of any structure. Still, it was a paycheck, she wouldn’t argue.
“This is Texas Jones, in rout aboard the Rapier. I have a shipment to deliver.”
This was her life now. Low cover, no friends, no lovers, because it was the way she wanted it to be.
“This is Texas Jones, in rout aboard the Rapier. I have a shipment to deliver.”
There it was, a beautiful sight if there could be one. Pharos Station, glittering before Gaia Eiridis. Even she couldn’t resist marveling at it. Sensors clicked, chimed, and she was suddenly bringing the ship to hover at a safe distance. |

~ I didn't have the heart to tell Texas that I was hired and trained by her father. Whom had disappeared into hidding after his wife was killed. He didn't blame his daughter, but feared for her life. Knowing that one day someone would come after her. I was hired and sent off with her to keep her safe. ~
While Texas was busy sleeping, Calix was in charge of keeping the ship on course. As well as making sure it was in working order. An easy job as the Rapier was a very fine ship. Dispite it having it's own on ship computer to run tests. He chose to do the testing himself.
A yawn passed his lips, before hearing the over head voice. He would quickly finish his current duties. Before moving to meet Texas when she came out of cryo statis. Neither saying a word as he turned to follow her to the ships bridge.
He knew better than to say anything at the moment, but once she had asked for clearence to land. He would speak up. " I've done a final check on the ship. Everything is in top working order, and the shipment is still secure. If you don't need me for anything else, captain. I will head down to get the shipment ready to be unloaded." |

"Good, thank you Calix." Answered from her position on the bridge. She was far too busy trying to contact someone in order to unload the shipment. Her frame turned to look to the man, grateful that he had been there for her since her parting her home world.
Buttons are pressed while she turned back to them. A switch was turned over and her hand pressed to the com once again.
"This is Texas Jones, in rout aboard the Rapier. I have a shipment to deliver. Please respond?" |

Once he had reached the cargo hold, he started to carefully get the items there ready to be transfered. He wasn't told what it was they were delivering, as it wasns't his place to ask. Feeling that if it were importan enough for him to know, Texas would have told him.
Once he had them ready, he moved to the intercom. Pressing the need button to talke to the bridge. " Cargo bay to bridge. Shipment is ready to be moved on your command." |

"Alright Calix, I understand, just waiting for orders."
She answered him and went back to checking the systems. Seems that every time she was sleeping he was doing his duty, beyond what she had asked to keep this rust bucket moving.
Fingers combed through her hair, her frame turned in her chair and she turned on a sleeping replicator. Plugging in a few commands, she waited for a steaming mug of tea to form and took it. Leaning back she looked over the stars and rocked, sipping her mug and waiting as her beacon kept up the call that they were awaiting docking instructions. |
