History of NGC-666 and Earth
2481
The last world war was waged with economics, not weapons of mass destruction. Countries are still recognizable in name and culture with the exception that the most economically successful countries are backed by various big business companies. Some companies are independent of political alignment. Very few countries are independent of company sponsorship.
Politics is business, business is politics.
2566
Science moved forward; discovered the pulse drive system which allowed for efficient intersystem travel. Outposts on the moon were claimed by three major corporations. Mars and Io claims followed within the decade. Construction begins and the people of earth start looking 'outward'.
2591
The global environment has largely been repaired although there are still 'black' areas on the planet where industry has left certain places undesirable for habitation. Famines and disease in these areas are common.
Sea of Tranquility Outpost is opened on the lunar surface by Ikeda-Atlantic Incorporated. A rush to move off world is stemmed by a corporate lottery, winners are given the opportunity to purchase area on the Outpost. Only IAI employees are allowed in the lottery.
Other bases are opened within the year. Colonization becomes a hot topic of the next World Trade Show.
2649
The next leap forward came with the Blair-Romania Industries FTL Star-Pulse System. Intersystem exploration exploded.
The Io base becomes a reality.
2713
Exploration is launched in secret from Io using the Chase-Canada Ltd modified Star-Pulse System. Within 30 years, numerous other star systems are discovered as habitable within the galaxy. Expansion was inevitable.
2808
Galaxy NGC-666 is entered. Areios Zeta is nicknamed "Hell's Doorstep." The system is not claimed by any corporation at that time. Expansion continues into the galaxy. Areios Zeta is a way-station with a temporary base on Gaia Eiridis.
2877
Greggor Interstellar Management, a small real estate and investment company originally named MacGreggor Management that left Sol late 2850, claims Areios Zeta as an asset. The company experiences financial issues that keep the system from being developed at that time.
2903
The Treaty of 2903
Backed by corporations that had moved their base of operation from Sol to Galaxy NGC-666, the treaty restricts free expansion into the Galaxy of NGC-666 by Sol based companies. After the Dispute of Logasia where multiple corporations staked claims in the system and a Sol based company claimed Eminent Domain, Galaxy NGC-666 corporations banded together at Pharos Station to protect their rights within Galaxy NGC-666. Hence, the treaty was borne the same year that Pharos Station went operational. Pharos Station has remained a neutral political ground ever since.

Today...
On Earth: Earth still suffers from overpopulation in spite of attempts at restricting reproduction. It is not uncommon for people to leave Earth for a 'new start' elsewhere but 'elsewhere' is usually within the system of Sol or local star systems within the galaxy. Few corporations have any dealings with Galaxy NGC-666. Few people can afford to travel on their own between the two galaxies due to the cost of a ship capable of the journey, fuel and supply constraints.
In Galaxy NGC-666: Multiple systems have been settled and trade routes between them clearly established. Business tensions occasionally rise but overall, there are few political outbursts that result in serious economic disruption. Few Corporations in NGC-666 have dealings with Sol based companies; this mostly because of the situation that led up to the Treaty of 2903.
Reorganized several times since financial hardships in 2850, Greggor Intergalactic Management (GIM) has grown over the years with careful management. Today, GIM is recognized as one of the leaders in property investments and management.
